The special issue of the 15th Conference on Informatics in Education (CIE2023, http://events.di.ionio.gr/cie) is published under the European Journal of Engineering and Technology Research (EJ-ENG). The Conference on Informatics in Education is co-organized by and Department of Informatics of Ionian University (https://di.ionio.gr) and the Department of Informatics of the University of Piraeus (https://www.cs.unipi.gr/), Greece, in collaboration with the Greek Computer Society (http://epy.gr/) and under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports. This is the seventh consecutive year in which selected papers presented at the conference are published after blind review in the journal. The published manuscripts are selected under a double peered review process among a significant number of manuscripts submitted to the conference.
The current special issue includes 13 papers related to informatics issues in education. More specifically, the issue includes works that focus on Education's fundamental concepts on Machine Learning; Educational activities using ICT for the enhancement of skills in students with psychiatric disease(s); Changes the Artificial Intelligence's evolution has brought to the educational process; The significance of robotics in education; A case study on the selection of digital tools in educational scenarios; The creation and synchronisation of a "digital storytelling" experience using web-based tools for Vocational Education lessons; Experiences of the abrupt transition to Emergency Remote Teaching during the Covid-19 pandemic; A Formative Assessment Rubric for Physical Computing Courses; Μetadata models for education, cultural institutions, and eXtended Reality; An applied model approach scheme to achieve a skills-based education; Enhancement of Users' Privacy Education on Mobile Applications; Effects of the ICT projects on educational and creativity actions; and, Use of Machine Learning to promote a wiser instructor-student communication in musical education.
